Good Friday Tenebrae Service
What is a Tenebrae service?
The word tenebrae is Latin for "shadows" or "darkness." It can also be translated as "night" or "death."
It is an ancient, somber Christian tradition in which we remember the seven sayings of Jesus from the cross.
We will be reading Scripture, singing, praying, and celebrating communion. Throughout the service, we will be dimming lights and extinguishing candles to illustrate a gradual descent into darkness, representing the light of the world being put to death.
